Around six months ago, I realized that Business Marketing Engine is approaching its 15th birthday this summer.
And aside from mixed feelings about how old I am, it got me thinking about an exercise I learned from my friend, Alex Charfen.
It’s pretty simple.
In the exercise, you just reflect on your early career and find those moments of genius in your past.
I don’t mean the captured lightning in a jar or writing the theory of everything type of genius, either.
I’m talking about natural genius.
The genius that allowed you to pull something out of your hat when things looked grim.
The same genius that appeared in that little league game when you suddenly became like Babe Ruth and went on a hitting streak.
Or that time when you made a great, unplanned pitch to a client.
The point of the exercise is to find those moments of genius and see how you may be able to reuse them now.
For me, I remembered Business Marketing Engine’s referral program.
Back in the day, over 60 percent of our business came from high-class referral sources, and when I remembered that, it got me thinking—-why did we ever stop using referral partners?
I couldn’t think of a single reason, at least none, that would still apply now.
So I reused the idea, and even though we’re still starting the program back up, we’re already seeing great results.
I’d love to talk to you about them. But it will have to wait for a call. Just click here.
The main reason that I’m telling you all of this is that:
I want you to take a breath and ask yourself, what was I doing at the beginning that I can do again now?
Whether you’re still in startup mode or have been operating for years, you can still gain something positive from reflecting on your old moments of genius.
So with that said, don’t be afraid to take a moment this week and think back…
You may find an idea from years back that is the perfect solution for your problems now.
Or you may just feel a sense of accomplishment after reflecting on how far you’ve come.
In any case, it’s worth the effort.
And one last thing before I let you go, if you’re interested in hearing more about our referral program, you can schedule a time to chat with me about it.
Our top partners make more than $250,000 per year… So it’ll be worth your time.
I look forward to speaking with you.
To your success,
Gabe.
